INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT SCHEME

I`m almost half way through my 24 month instructor training with Gwilym, and its the best decision i made on joining the extended training scheme that he offers. I`m still able to work full time, train and gain my own personal training days in between. We`ve already covered all areas from hiking, climbing, scrambling, navigation, biking and paddling and trained in various locations from Dartmoor, Wales, Exeter, Scotland and the New Forest. Gwilym`s shown me how to improve my skills and its already given me more confidence in what I do. He`s a wealth of knowledge and i always learn something new on a training weekend.
He`s fully flexible with dates and activities, its up to you what and how much you want to achieve over the 2 years, there`s no pressure. He`s always a phone call or email away for questions and queries.

6TH FORM SCOTTISH WINTER

The trip was a month ago, but the pupils are still raving about it.

Given the high quality that we have experienced in the past, Wet and High Adventures were the obvious choice for our Sixth Form Winter Mountaineering trip to the Cairngorms.

As the lead teacher I was supported throughout, questions were quickly answered and paperwork returned promptly.

I have seen a number of Winter Skills type courses before, but this on was better - it gave the pupils the skills they needed to plan and undertake winter journeys, and then supported them to consider the weather and avalanche forecasts to come up with a plan then put it into action the following day. Gwilym Starks is clearly in his element in the wintery Scottish mountains, and the pupils revelled their approachable and knowledgeable guide. We will be back! Olly R

SUMMER ML PREPARATION

As an ML trainee, Gwilym gave me the opportunity to gain professional hands on experience assisting him leading his client groups in the mountains which I found invaluable. He also spent time helping me prepare in depth for my assessment, which I'm pleased to say I passed first time, thanks to Gwilym's support, encouragement and patience.
