Our third and final (for this year) Winter Skills course finished today with awesome views over the Cairngorm Plateau. Over the last 3 days, Gwilym took clients Wayne and Andy into Ciste Gully to learn snow pack, ice axe arrest, foot work and emergency shelters, up to Carn Ban Mor for some navigation practice and fianlly today a circuit onto Cairngorm with stunning views.
Yesterday and today, Gwilym has been running a 1:1 skills course for Leon. Yesterday was spent in the relative shelter of Corrie an T'Sneachda looking at crampon, axe and snow skills. Today, they braved the biting cold and summitted Cairngorm (Scotland's 6th highest mountain) concentrating on safe travel techniques and poor visibility navigation.
This weekend, Gwilym has been running a Winter Skills course in The Cairngorms for clients Matt and Jamie. The first day was spent in one of the corries sheltering from the wind looking at using axes, crampons and precise foot work. The second day saw lighter winds and a journey onto the plateau to look at navigation, safe travel and shelters.
