This week, Gwilym and Jay have been on Dartmoor for a Hill and Moorland Leader Assessment in some very wet and windy weather.
Simon was out delivering a Mountain Leader reassessment focusing on poor visibility navigation. After a nice start to the day in Snowdonia, the rain set in about 4pm threatening a wet evening. Thankfully by the time they started out the rain had stopped although the clag was down, perfect for navigation.
Simon and Natalie completed a circuit high up in the Llanberis Pass and we are pleased to say the she performed well and passed. Well done.
Gwilym was out on Dartmoor today with Zak helping him prepare for his upcoming Hill and Moorland Leader Assessment next month
Super warm and sunny (almost to hot) and lots of navigation, decision making, environmental knowledge and leadership issues covered.
Another Rock Climbing Instructor Training course on Dartmoor for Gwilym this weekend. A smaller course with only 2 candidates gave lots of time to look at personal and group climbing both inside and out. They visited Dart Rock, Bench Tor and Chudleigh to get a real range of experience.
It was a long drive up to Finchley (North London)and back for Gwilym as he was running a NNAS Tutors Course for the Air Cadets today.
9 ATC staff and lots of different navigational games and ideas both inside and out kept them all busy and the feedback was really positive.l
Gwilym, Stu and Si have been busy in Snowdonia this week assessing Mountain Leaders. With 7 candidates on a full 5 day assessment and 2 candidates coming back for a 1 day re assessment it was pretty busy for the team. The weather was awesome (almost too nice in fact meaning the teams had to stay up very late for some night navigation) and we are very pleased to report there are 7 new Mountain Leaders heading off into the mountains to inspire their own groups. Well done
This week Gwilym and Stu have been running a Mountain Leader Training course in Snowdonia between them. Gwilym had the drier start to the week and Stu the wetter end. 4 candidate all super keen to be out in the mountain whatever the weather and now heading off to get some more experience and prepare for assessment.
Thanks to Andy and Mark for assisting Gwilym out on the wet and windy moor and to Jamie for helping out in the warm and dry climbing wall.
On Friday Gwilym was down on Dartmoor and today in Poole running NNAS tutors courses. A total of 11 candidates over the 2 days led to great discussion and participation in different methods of teaching navigation.
As well as an assessment, we have also had a Mountain Leader Training course running this week with Gwilym, Stu, Dewi and Sam all involved with teaching the trainees. After getting a battering from the weather on the last day of the course, all 6 are now gaining further experience before coming back for assessment at a later date.
This week, Gwilym and Stu have been up in Snowdonia running a Mountain Leader Assessment.
A warm and dry start to the week turned wetter and colder by the end but gave some challenging navigation on the middle day of the expedition
A good effort from the candidates over the 5 days
This weekend, Gwilym has been on The Quantock Hills and at Steart Marshes delivering a Lowland Leader Training course.
Keen candidates, lovely weather and all just a few miles form the office. Over the weekend they saw some Deer, Lapwings and many more of our British Wildlife
Gwilym has just got back from a great day in Princetown running a NNAS Tutors Course for 3 experienced Mountain Leaders who will be running NNAS navigation courses. With loads covered both inside and out, all three have gone away with some new ideas to play with over the next few weeks. Even the rain stopped so they didn't get too wet outside
